Spiro and the best mail day ever

Last week, I received the best package in the mail - the best package EVER.
It was from my friend Barb of Spiro Creations, who I met back in December last year when she taught a working with soft leather workshop at Studio Lune here in Winnipeg.

Since then, she's moved with her husband Issaac to his homeland New Zeland, traveling the country in various hippie buses, and generally living the sometimes hard but always interesting life they were clearly ment to lead. Barb designs then hand and machine sews all her goods, and Issaac creates beautiful wood and stone buttons to compliment each piece. He apparently also has a wicked recipe for ginger beer...

I've enjoyed getting to know Barb since she's left our city, and she's become my very favorite e-pen pal. Besides being a really cool girl, she's also seriously talented - you've probably seen her amazing work around the blog circuit before.

I wanted these moccasins so badly from the moment I laid eyes on them. They are even better in person, and I honestly want to wear them every day, even in the sweltering heat.

Spiro truly rocks, from the bottom up - this is about genuinely nice, talented people who nurture their connection to the earth by making beautiful things with their hands.

Expect to see a lot of Spiro/Lune mixed styling - as my package included cuffs and other amazing leather goods. Yeah, I felt a bit faint. I've been wearing the goods all week, and can fully stand behind their comfort. THANK YOU BARB!

PS. Today my hot rockin SIL photographer Tanya Munro took some photo's of a new Lune collection coming out this week (hence, the new summery blog banner). Although the VINTAGE section of our etsy shop is down until August 1st, we've decided to keep listing new Love Lune summer stock throughout the month - which is what I'll be working on this week. I hope you'll enjoy what we've cooked up under the prairie sun!
