Wednesday will mark the end of the 1st Trimester for me and our growing baby # 2. I have to say, I'm glad we're at this point already. It's been a bit of a rough ride. If you've followed the Lune blog since I discovered that we'd be adding another member to our family of 3, you'll know that I've been struggling with morning, noon and night sickness. The whole package of metal taste in my mouth, nausea, heartburn, and fatigue.
Surprisingly, for someone who always felt like puking, I manged to pack on 12 lbs in 3 months! Ha! It seemed like the only thing that I felt like consuming was cheese (lots of it), pasta, bread, yogurt, milk and ice cream. Some of it was a happy gain (went up a cup size!) but the rest of me wasn't too glad to get the extra chubb. Now that I'm feeling better and the nausea has almost totally passed, I'm eating a lot more healthy. I hope to keep myself at a healthy weight, because I know it'll make for an easier birth and a faster recovery afterward. I'm feeling self conscious about it, but that's something I'll just have to get over for a while - we all go through that insecurity over a changing body.
Today, I have my first Ultrasound. This means that we'll get to hear a little heartbeat. I'm so excited to hear that proof that YES, this is happening and we're creating an amazing little person that will be such a huge part of the rest of our lives. With Luke (now almost 5 years old), I didn't know what to expect - but now I can't wait to find out who this little person is. I'm hoping Luke can hear the heartbeat too so it can become more real for him. Todd and I talk about it with him every day, but this process must be strange for a single child. We're both very careful to keep him as involved as possible so he feels like this is HIS baby too.
Thanks for sharing this part of our lives with us. If any of you are momma's to be, please leave me a comment telling me how far along you are, and what you're feeling. I'd love to have some preggo buddies - I know you're out there!!!
