finding it's way to you

This week I've been able to do a lot of thrifting. We're lucky around here because there are SO MANY thrift shops in our city. I suspect that Winnipeg is the second hand capital of Canada. Something I'm kind of proud of. I like the idea that we're the kind of people who can appreciate the fact that many people outgrow their possessions before those possessions outgrow their usefulness.

I'm also thankful that we live in a city that is full of history, big brick faced buildings, and rows upon rows of wood sided 2 story homes on streets shaded by a canopy of 100 year old trees. Every once in a while we're lucky to have these paths cross, where the contents of said houses make their way to the shelves of said thrift stores. Thereby, being put in my lucky path and traveling back home to my own 2 story home on a shady street - placed on a teak hifi cabinet, and adorned with a single pear (I like how they look - but i really hate pears).

It doesn't take much to make me happy.
What is your happiest little thrift find lately???
PS. Feel free to link to your pictures/flickr/blog or whatnot - I love visiting you!!!
PPS. Do you like pears?

Love - Jill
