After 5 years of blogging, and about the same amount of time spent in blog reading, the whole scene gets pretty old. I've found myself eye rolling more often than not lately - and I guess it's mostly out of boredom. It seems like it's all been said, shown, and done a million times before at this point. I know that sounds negative, but here's up side. When you begin to feel more annoyed than inspired, just start fresh and look at what the online world can offer you in a new way. This summer I didn't spend a lot of time online but I did do a re-haul of what information I was consuming while surfing the web (that's an oldie term right?). These are a few that I check on often.
Abandoned : a minimalist tumbler featuring photos of abandoned buildings. It's not everyone's cup of tea - but I find them beautiful and very interesting.
Vintage Vixen : she's been a favorite of mine for over a year now. A vintage dealing, festival going, rum & coke drinking, well traveled, cool English chick. Her attitude is just as inspiring as her daily wardrobe, and there's not a fake bone in her body (well, actually there is, but you have to read her blog to hear mention of it. You'd never guess).
Shae DeTar: an incredibly talented film photographer and mixed media artist, I discovered her through her vintage shop years ago. Her painted photographs are completely ethereal. It's fascinating following her evolving career through her blog.
Moon to Moon: Natural and bohemian Interiors from around the world, past and present. I love seeing home from a different perspective. This blog offers constant eye candy in that area.
Oregon to Patagonia: Jedidiah Jenkins started a bike trip from Oregon in August 2013 and intends to ride all the way to Patagonia, at the very tip of South America. His Instagram feed of the trip is quite beautiful so far.
It's an ever changing list, but that's how it should be. People change, interests change, bloggers change and sometimes we aren't going in the same direction with them. It's nothing personal. As a blogger myself, I totally get that. Have you done a reader purge lately? What are some of your favorite new reads that have you looking forward to the next update?
