It's hard to believe it, but next month Eve will be two. No longer a baby, but a toddler. A lot has happened since then. We've had so much happiness, loss, and adventure in the past 23 months, yet it's all gone by in a flash. For Eve, this time has been about discovery, learning, and growing. One moment, a helpless infant barely capable of seeing past her reach, to a very capable little girl who can dress herself up in any clothes she gets her hands on, including her Daddy's jeans, her Momma's boots or her brothers snowboarding jacket. All of it, we take in stride, wanting her to need us, but proud of how independent she's already become.
It's time to start planning a party for my girl. I'm a terrible party planner. Usually, it's a very last minute situation, since I like to keep things casual and low key. For her first birthday we had a party in our back yard. BBQ food and cupcakes were on the menu. It worked out perfectly. Unfortunately, this year we might not have a dry patio since the snow hasn't even started to melt (it snowed again last night). I might have to get creative. It's going to be a special day.
