It was fairly early one misty Vancouver morning when we walked down to Jericho Beach equipped with rubber boots, extra socks, and a bag for a few fishy smelling souvenirs. Beachcombing is always a fun thing to do with kids. They are never deterred by the weather, despite how utterly cold the water can be on spring days like this. I think it would be so wonderful to have a variety of beaches to choose from, right in the heart of the city. It's a real benefit of living on the west coast. In spring it seems that the shores are near abandoned, but I can imagine the rows of logs set up as benches and low shade barriers crowded with revellers once the weather warms. Today, we had the view to ourselves, and our pick of thousands of vibrant pink and purple mussel shells, sea glass and other beach treasures.
