Hissing, steaming, puffing, belching, frothing, fuming, stinking, bubbling, troubling. All words that could be used to describe a good portion of Yellowstone's Mud Volcano area. With natural features given names like Dragon's Mouth Spring, Sour Lake and Sulphur Cauldron, it's a perfect place to share with an 8 year old boy. I wouldn't call this the most beautiful place, but it was definitely worth seeing. Just come prepared to hold your breath. The air is thick, humid and reeking of rotten eggs due to the high acidity and sulphur content in the water. The fumes escaping through vents and pools come from deep within the earth and give us a tiny look into the landscape of the past. It's prehistoric, ugly, but strangely beautiful.
Here's something neat! I spent some time re-organizing posts and made pages for each type of most popular post. So for example, if you click on "Journal" you'll get to choose which posts most interest you on Lune Blog. If you choose Travel, it'll show all the posts I've written about the places we've visited outside of Manitoba, Canada. Maybe you'll find a new destination for your wish list there, or bring back some happy memories of your own. Thanks for reading!
