Sometimes a gadget comes into my life and I wonder how I went so long without it. Honestly, a small investment in something functional can make traveling so much easier! This sentiment rings true for the Poki Power Bank external battery charger by LePow.
I use my phone for a lot of things while camping and traveling, and I bet you do too. Google maps is my best friend. While in New York we relied on our phones to figure out subway routes and call Uber cars. We kept in touch with others in our group by messaging one another. We checked when the last ferry was leaving Brooklyn and looked up how late Toys R Us was open in Times Square (very late). Everywhere we go I always have my phone to capture pictures of the trip and often share them on our Instagram feed. All that usage takes up a LOT of battery life. At that rate, it's easy to run through a full charge by noon. I bet I'm not alone in feeling a little panicked when I see that battery meter turn red . . .
Last weekend we took a long hike in Blue Lake Provincial Park. It was gorgeous, but rougher terrain than I expected so it took longer than planned. Luckily we had cellular coverage out in the bush and were able to call up our route to confirm we were on the right track (some of us were feeling doubtful). It was a relief to know that should we need it, POKI was able to fully charge my phone over 2 additional times. Besides water and food, having a way to keep in touch, pull up a map or call for assistance is pretty essential while exploring for the day.
The POKI Power Bank is useful, but also very nice looking. It's slim, comes in mint, yellow or white and includes a nice felt case which can hold your phone, charge cords, the POKI and it's manual. To check the charge level on the device, just brush your finger along the touch activated battery sensor. The design is simple, aesthetically pleasing, and very easy to pack for traveling and camping. In my opinion it's a fantastic little travel gadget. I won't leave home without it!
