We seem to be making it a habit to travel to cities during spring. Our NYC trip had us visiting right before Easter Sunday. In fact, it was Good Friday when we made our way to Central Park for a little walk on a misty afternoon. The weather was perfectly lovely in my opinion. A warm slightly rainy day is ideal for a long walk. Just pack a poncho or umbrella and get out there! Everything smells so fresh. The winter takes a toll on us so when things start to look green, we get a real boost of energy. The first flowers of the year were just starting to pop up through he bramble. Despite the fact that it was a holiday from school, the park was very quiet. We had a lovely time strolling around one of the largest, and oldest city parks in North America.
Classic horse drawn carriages trotted past, along with yellow cabs along the boarders of the park. Rows of empty green benches sat waiting for the summertime crowd. It would be easy to wile the day away here, wandering from lamp post to lamp post, pausing at each bridge crossing. As it were, we had a city lights cruise to catch and only had a couple hours to spare. I left feeling like we'll just have to pick this up where we left off on our next visit. There's never enough time, is there? I can only imagine the different character that each season brings to this legendary park.
