Glamping at Backcountry Haven

Glamping at Backcountry Haven

We are big fans of vacation rentals, you've probably noticed. The reason why we love Glamping Hub in particular is that they really put a strong focus on offering unique, creative, and natural vacation rentals. That can include anything from a jungle treehouse, a luxury suite in a cave, or in our case, a beautiful log cabin in the mountains. No boring and bare apartments here! You can search under fun categories like Tree Houses, Yurts, Safari Tents, Campervans, Tipis, Cabins and even Domes! Staying in a Glamping Hub location is really all about enriching your travel experience.

We've stayed in a Glamping Hub vacation rental before (these yurts in North Western Ontario) and were looking forward to trying another property in California. On our return trip from San Fransisco to Los Angeles, we planned our route through Sierra National Forrest and enjoyed a two day relaxing stay at a log cabin dubbed Backcountry Haven

Our host David got in contact with me before our check in day to give us very detailed directions to Backcountry Haven. He made it easy to find even though it was in a beautifully remote area not far from Yosemite National Park. After visiting the California coast we were treated to an entirely different view of this diverse state. In the mountains there is fresh air and plenty of space to clear your mind. We picked up some groceries in the village of North Fork and rolled down the unpaved road to our hideaway.

We jumped out of that car so fast! Everyone was excited to explore, claim a room, and chill out!

The spacious and comfortable cabin was exactly what we needed after living in close quarters with 4 adults and 2 kids for a week and a half. My parents got the main floor, and Todd, myself and the kids shared the upper level - but in separate bedrooms! Hurrah!!!

The kids got a nice break from sleeping within arms reach of one of us and had their very own room, complete with a log bunkbed! They appreciated the large living room lounge area, games and TV. Another bonus that had nothing to do with getting out of each others hair was getting to sit around the big dining room table and have a proper family dinner.

The main floor washroom was spacious and featured an antique clawfoot soaker tub. Major points here for me! This particular cabin would be ideal for a large group of friends or those traveling with family. There were two full bathrooms and an additional vanity in the largest room. We found the cabin to be very well stocked, clean and ready to host our group. Having everything taken care of really allowed us to enjoy every moment of our stay here.

There was no lack of things to do around Backcountry Haven itself, even though it is also a scenic 30 minute drive to the Yosemite National Park entrance. Nearby Bass Lake is the perfect place to cool off with a swim. In the evenings we made use of the games, art supplies and basketball hoop before lighting some candles on the deck and admiring the incredibly starry sky. Being able to see shooting stars and escape the light pollution of the city is one of my favourite parts about glamping.

My only regret about our Glamping Hub stay here was that I didn't have a horse with me! Backcountry Haven offers guests the opportunity to house their horses in the barn and has trail information ready to go for those eager to ride the day away. With room for 14, I can imagine it would be the perfect group vacation for equestrian aficionados. As for us, we took a walk to visit the neighbours two lovely horses.
